El Gobierno Federal ha anunciado que el Banco Africano de Energía (AEB) comenzará a funcionar el 28 de enero de 2025.
Esta revelación fue compartida por el Embajador Nicholas Ella, Secretario Permanente del Ministerio de Recursos Petroleros, durante la 19.ª reunión de la Junta Ejecutiva de la Organización Africana de Productores de Petróleo (APPO) en Yaundé, Camerún.
El Embajador Ella dijo que Nigeria está comprometida con los objetivos de la APPO y quiere establecer rápidamente el banco de energía para ayudar con los problemas de dinero en la industria del petróleo y el gas de África.
Nigeria, which won the hosting right for the AEB headquarters in July 2024, is now fixing up the building and has already paid $69.12 million towards its share of the costs.
Omar Farouk Ibrahim, the Secretary General of APPO, said that 50% of the money needed for the AEB to start is ready, with APPO and Afrexim being the main investors.
The AEB’s opening happens at the same time as APPO’s 38th anniversary and is expected to change Africa’s energy situation.
